Cryptocurrency News: Cryptocurrency prices climbed early Monday after pro-bitcoin, right-wing libertarian Javier Milei won the presidential election in Argentina Sunday. Bitcoin price rose above its $37,000 level while ethereum traded above $2,000.
Milei, a self-described "anarch0-capitalist," has been positive of bitcoin in the past, calling it "the return of money to its original creator - the private sector." However, he has stopped short of favoring the crypto as legal tender in the country.
Cryptocurrency prices rallied last week after briefly dipping on Tuesday's cooler-than-expected inflation report. Bitcoin climbed back above $37,500 Wednesday after falling below $35,000 Tuesday. Ethereum recovered to its $2,000 level following a quick slide below $1,970.
